Description

EMBERTICUS

(em-bir-teh-cuss)

Gender: Male
Element: Fire
Age: 257
Mate: None

Emberticus was chosen to be the fire guardian at age 7. He took his training seriously but always found time for his little sister, Fiori. Emberticus' parents died when he and his sister were young, so they looked out for each other since. During an attack from the apes on the city, Fiori was killed in the confusion, and Emberticus spent many years mourning and beating himself up for it. He began to fail in his training rapidly, and it wasn't until he got a visit from the Chronicler who told him that if he didn't become Guardian, many will die the same way his sister did. Emberticus immediately dove back into his training and became a strong Guardian, determined, personally, on finding a way to defeat the ape clan once and for all.

Emberticus is a quiet dragon, but commanding and a strong leader when necessary. He sometimes struggles to give mercy to his foes, killing them on sight rather than hanging back for information or what else. He's especially protective of family groups, always offering his council or help. He keeps his emotions pent up inside him rather than shed tears or fury anger, until they are about to burst, in which he travels to a volcano far away, and let's it all out.
It is said that he's one of the very few who know of the Chroniclers existence and whereabouts, and has visited him more than once.

ARTOCUS

(ar-toe-cuss)

Gender: Male
Element: Ice
Age: 255
Mate: None

Artocus was born to a lone dragon mother in the desert. Food was hard to find, and water even worse. His mother was a electric dragon and she didn't know how to handle a baby ice dragon as well as she would an electric dragon. His mother was close to dying of thirst one day, but when artocus started to breath ice which then melted into water, he was able to save her, and she and him made the long journey to the Dragon city where they would live. Artocus' powerful instincts was a great factor in choosing him to be Guardian. He thrived in his training, and his mother was always proud of him.

Artocus is a very friendly dragon. He's caring and good with children. He's very much a peacemaker, and is especially good at easing the tension in any situation, always reminding others that no matter how bad things could seem, life was still good.

TEMPESTIER

(tem-pest-teer)

Gender: Male
Element: Electricity
Age: 256
Mate: Impria (dead)

Tempestier lived in the crystal forest when he was young. Many dragons lived there at that time before it was taken over by Malefor hundreds of years later and used to build Cynder's fortress.
Tempestier always had a crush on a young dragoness named Impria, a shadow dragoness, and it wasn't until he became future Guardian and started attending many important feasts and celebrations as one of the guests of honor when she finally started to notice him. Guardians were not encouraged to have mates, but Tempestier didn't care. He loved Impria, and she developed her own feelings for him back. Soon afterward, Impria was captured by the former Ape King and Gauls father, Torac, and killed when refusing to give answers of the dragon secrets. Despite Tempestiers attempts to save her, he was too late. He tried to kill the Ape King, but his army overpowered him and fled only when Tempestier performed his best electric fury.
Tempestier lived in sheer sorrow afterward. Becoming a recluse and avoiding everyone if he could. Tempestier became a successful electric Guardian, but he always held in that pure sorrow and regret.
100 years passed until Tempestier let go of the past and decided to enjoy life to the fullest, for there was much to enjoy. He became a firm believer of hope. Hope that the apes would be defeated one day, and life would again be peaceful for the dragons.

Tempestier is a strong therapist. His advice is powerful, and his leadership even more so. Whenever others are down, he will encourage them with tales of hope and great warriors on the horizon.
But he always has his moments when he needs to be alone, to mourn Impria, and miss his loss.

PHLORORO

(flow-row-row)

Gender: Female
Element: Earth
Age: 255
Mate: None

Phlororo was a very shy dragoness when she was young. When she was chosen to become the next Earth Guardian, she froze, and ran away from the Dragon City. Her mother found her in the Avalar forest and counciled her, telling her how proud she was of her and how much she deserved this honor. When Phlororo didn't understand, her mother explained to her all the sweet little things Phlororo used to do that was already Guardian-worthy, and in the end, Phlororo was encouraged and even excited to become the Earth Guardian. She studied and trained hard, and excelled magnificently. When the day came and she became the Earth Guardian, her first move was building a rookery under the Dragon Temple for the dragoness' to all lay their eggs, and where the Guardians could watch over them safely. Many dragons and dragoness' loved the setup and many came with their eggs and left with their hatchlings. Phlororo was a very loved Guardian, and many looked to her for guidance and wisdom.

Phloloro is very regal and graceful in her actions and words. She always looked to her mother for guidance. When the Guardian magic caused her to outlive her mother, it was a very hard blow for her. But Phlororo treasured her memory and the very thought of her was always the thing that gave her strength in the trials that followed.

TOGETHER

The Guardians before them had lived for 800 years, until the former Earth Guardian died in an avalanche, trying to protect the cheetah clan. These four were chosen immediately afterward.
With the start of the rookery, guarding the eggs went better than it ever had before, and for 200 years the Guardians lived peacefully.
When the arrival of the purple egg came, all were excited, except for Phlororo. She was worried with the dragons ability to breath all the elements, saying that that power could put them all at his mercy if used wrongly. Tempestier was only excited for the purple dragon, saying that he may be the one to finally defeat the apes.
They trained the young purple dragon, who they decided to name "Malefor" in the many ways of the elements. In time they all traveled to the city, where they were excited to watch the purple dragon onward. But what they saw wasn't what they expected.
The purple dragon was mean to others. He strutted around, acting as if he was much more important than others. From there it only got worse. He began to destroy parts of the city for fun, and would challenge dragons to vicious battles, where he would show off his great power. When he nearly killed a dragon in combat, Artocus stepped in to try to stop Malefor, but in Malefor's rage he turned on Artocus and shot a full blast of purple fury at him, killing him instantly. Even then, Malefor held no remorse for his actions, and the remaining Guardians banished him immediately.
Soon after Malefor's departure, an Ice funeral was held for Artocus, and with the Guardian magic broken, the great bird Orinaucien was called to the city to pick the new 4 Guardians, who eventually were Ignitus, Volteer, Cyril, and Terrador.
Many years later, while the young one's grew and trained to be Guardians, the now 3 Guardians still remained to their duties, which were now fighting against Malefor in his desperate attempts to attack and take over the city.
When Malefors forces were threatening, they decided to evacuate the city, but were too late, for Malefor started attacking it at that instant with his great ape army.
In the battle, Phlororo was killed by Malefor himself, and in a desperate act, Emberticus and Tempestier took the four baby Guardians and started to flee when a great dark figure rose into the air above the city and shot a great golden light at Malefor and the apes. Malefor fell to the ground and the apes retreated. Before the Guardians could see who the savior was, it vanished.
The city was safe, and Malefor now made no attempt to approach it again in fear of the dark figure with the mysterious golden power. Emberticus and Tempestier, along with the new baby Guardians, continued to live in the city, and with the help of the moles, began to rebuild it to it's former glory before Malefors vicious attack on it.
The day came and Ignitus, Volteer, Cyril, and Terrador became the Guardians. Emberticus and Tempestier, their job done, passed away peacefully, giving the Guardians their blessings that they would find a way to defeat Malefor once and for all.

Side Note:

When Malefor was sealed in the core of the earth, there were 5 dragon spirits who flew up out of it and brought him down with them. They were the 4 Guardians and Frillisean.

I know you guys have missed my Spyro art. I decided to finally upload this.
These Guardians are canon to my "Zirra's Return" comic. They were the Guardians before Ignitus and the others, and they will appear a lot in "A Tale of Hope"
They will get mentions in "Zirra's Return" and will also be in my new Spyro spinoff I'm working on.
